AAC hosted the 8th European Clinical Microbiology and Immunology Congress with the theme “Recent methodologies to enhance research in Clinical Microbiology and Immunology” during June 12-13, 2019 at Edinburgh, Scotland (Hotel Holiday Inn Edinburgh, 132 Corstorphine Road, Edinburgh). We strongly agree that the congress has achieved its goals and the attendees had the opportunity to meet experts from different countries all over the world. With the active participation and benevolent response from the editorial board members of the supporting journals as well as from the leading academic researchers, scientists, scholars, leaders and students from the different field of Microbiology and Immunology who made this event successful

The Business Delegates, Scientists and Young researchers marked the attendance at the Clinical Microbiology 2019 conference representing more than 18 countries, has driven the conference path to great success.

Clinical Microbiology 2019 witness the peerless speeches who enlightened the gathering with their knowledge on various new-fangled topics in the field of Microbiology and Immunology.

The abstracts accepted by our review committee members were given with DOI numbers in the Journal of Microbiology: Current Research. The conference began with an opening ceremony followed by a series of interesting keynote as well as plenary lectures delivered by honorable guests and organizing committee members. Session on: Infectious Diseases

Most of the Infectious Diseases are caused by microorganisms like viruses, bacteria, fungi or parasites. Some harmless and even helpful microorganism lives in our body, but under certain circumstances they may cause infectious disease. Some Infectious Disease are communicable as it can be passed from one person to the other. Some are caused by food or water borne virus, and some are transmitted through insects or animal bites. Each and every infectious disease has its own individuality in signs and symptoms. Some of the general signs include flu, diarrhoea, coughing, fatigue and muscle aches. It is mandatory to consult a doctor if the condition goes worse.

It is also considered as the part of laboratory medicine, and it studies the body fluids, cells and tissue to analyse specific diseases and it supports medical practitioners to identify the major cause and the disease severity, also in monitoring the treatment. Pathology plays a major role from pre-conception to post mortem. Recently Pathology has nine major areas of activity like Anatomical, Clinical Pathology, Immunopathology and many more.

The clinical branches of laboratory medicine are involved in Clinical Pathology, and it is more concerned with diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. The diagnosis and treatment provided will be based on the test results made from the samples collected from the individuals. Clinical Pathology helps in maintain the information systems, research and quality control. Clinical Pathology is more specific in analysing clinical abnormalities of non-infectious as well as infectious diseases.

Session on: Pediatric Infectious Diseases

Pediatricians works to treat, fight and manage contagious illnesses and other infectious diseases affecting children. Pediatric infectious diseases specialists treats persistent diseases which are caused by infectious agents like virus, bacteria, parasite and fungi. Pediatric infectious diseases specialists are trained in the large community hospitals, and some pediatricians have their own private practices. They closely work with epidemiologists, community physicians and heath agencies to limit the outbreaks of contagious illnesses and other infectious diseases.

Session on: Veterinary Infectious Diseases

Infectious disease transmitted form animal to humans are classified under this category. Bacteria, virus, fungi and parasites causes Veterinary Infectious Disease, and it can be transmitted or spread from animal to human, human to human and human to animal. These zoonotic Infectious diseases causes major threat to humans. Some animals can be the carrier of pathogens, so the people coming in contact with these animals may fall sick. The control of parasitic and Infectious disease is more important in veterinary clinics.

Session on: STD and HIV infection

There are numerous methods to test the HIV infection, HIV is diagnosed by testing your saliva or blood for antibodies. Usually it takes up to 12 weeks to progress these antibodies. Human immunodeficiency virus destroys the white blood cell that fight against infection and it damages the immune system, and the immune system is progressively disrupted. AIDS is not developed in everyone with HIV, HIV replication takes place during every stages of the infection, and it progressively depletes CD4 lymphocytes, where the maintenance of effective immune function becomes critical.

In the era of many advancements in treating infectious diseases, Central Nervous System (CNS) infection is still a major risk. Because it is difficult to diagnose and treatments are not sufficient, These infections are classified as chronic or acute. Infection can affect the meninges or the brain substance encephalitis, or even both (meningoencephalitis). Some infection may lead to inflammatory reaction which causes neurological damage coinciding with the infection or independently. In some cases new issues can be found related to the particular disease. And these infectious disease can be managed by initiating the therapy in proper time.

Session on: Food and Waterborne Infectious Diseases

Nutritious food plays a necessary major role for life, and improper or failure to take sufficient calories, micro and macronutrients can lead to illness or death. Food is the major source for foodborne illness, by taking spoiled or contaminated food with microbes, chemical or toxic substance. The variety of microorganisms, toxic impurities or biotoxins causes waterborne diseases, and it causes illness like cholera, schistosomiasis and sometimes gastrointestinal infections. Infectious disease like cholera and other intestinal diseases can cause a greater threat due to the growth and transmission of bacteria caused by sea temperature rise. Due to the climate variation the foodborne and waterborne infectious diseases affects the huge amount of population.

Infections caused by microorganisms are discussed in this session, Microbial infections are harmful to the health and some are not dangerous. Microbial infection can occur in humans as well as animals and plants. Currently research and advancements have been involved to diagnose and treat the diseases caused by microorganism. Changes in the surroundings like climate have made humans, animals and plants to contact with the newly identified infectious diseases.

Session on: Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases

The infectious disease epidemiology involves study of frequency, occurrence and medium of infection in the population. The major cause of sickness and death around the world is due to the deadly infectious disease. Until the beginning of 20th century infectious disease constituted critical health issues all around the world, also in developing countries, the chronic diseases began to overtake this scenario. To the epidemiological profile the re-emerging infectious disease were an addition, where infectious disease have more importance in the morality rates of the population.

Session on: Pathogenesis of infectious diseases

The pathogen is only present at the original site of infection and it is carried to other parts of the body by blood, lymph. Infectious disease may be symptomatic or asymptomatic. The pathogenicity degree of an organism is virulence. Though the emerging of infectious disease is long established, the pathogenesis by which the microorganisms causes illness lagged behind. Some pathogens were recognised during early days of microbiology. Knowledge and understanding the pathogenesis of infectious disease provides the idea for diagnosis, prevention and treatment.

Session on: Infection and Immunity

The infectious disease has to diagnosed by knowing the pathogenesis of infection, so that the treatment and immunity can be raised against that. Even antimicrobial agents can be used to control the infections caused by animals. Hygienic practice can be followed to prevent the microbial infection. Immunity contributes the communication between the microbes and the host. To control the bacterial and viral disease the immune system has to build up in many ways, so that it can directly kill the pathogen to complex cytokines which can hinder the replication.

Session on: Vaccine and Vaccination

To raise the immunity to fight against a disease vaccines are used, and it can taken through needles, tablets, or by aerosol. Currently vaccines are highly developed to protect us from deadly infectious diseases like measles, polio, influenza, and hepatitis. But in some developing countries people are delaying or refusing to vaccinate because of fears, so that it leads to deadly diseases like whooping cough. With effective medication and vaccines the attempt made by the immune system to destroy the microbial agents or infected cells can be controlled.

Session on: Diagnosis, Management and Treatment of Infectious Diseases

Medical diagnosis determines the cause for disease or condition of persons symptoms and signs. To identify the organism directly laboratory test are involved, Some of the types of test include culture, microscopy and immunologic test like enzyme immunoassays, latex agglutination, western blot, complement fixation and precipitation test. The subtype of diagnosis involves laboratory, clinical, radiology and admitting diagnosis. Current advancements helps in diagnosing the infection in any part of the body. It is better to stay away from the infectious individuals to avoid the spread of communicable disease. Making awareness on infectious diseases and their symptoms can reduce the risk of transmission and contamination.

Currently most of the emerging infectious disease obtained from animal host are man-made, which spreads diseases due to the climate change and wildlife habitat loss and annihilation of rainforest. Infectious disease is rapidly increasing day by day. Creating awareness about the disease symptom and sign can reduces the risk of development in particular person. Infectious diseases are mostly spread by bacteria, virus or animals. Discovery of new virus at the early stage helps the public health organisation to control or prevent the diseases in its track.
